2009 ~ Where have you gone?
-
August 13, 2009
The summer is approaching its end far too quickly! We've had a fun summer of shows out in cottage country...some were rain-filled, some were sun-filled. Either way, time is flying and we're looking ahead to the fall. Our hope is to get a full length album together and set up a few small tours for the upcoming year.
We've got a bunch of new songs that we've been sharing with audiences for the last several months and are working on more as we speak/type!
So, keep your chins up and enjoy the rest of your summer. We hope to see you soon!
A year in review!

December 2, 2008
Hi there everyone. It has been, sadly, too long since I've updated the site. Many things have occurred over the past year - all things wonderful.
Myke Mazzei has continued to make us smile and rock! It's such a treat getting to make music with him, and Graydon and Jason...I consider myself extremely lucky.
We've had a few really fun shows (namely a private birthday party up north) and have been working diligently on creating some new material. It's sounding really great and we're hoping to have a full length album out mid 2009. We've posted a few of our newer songs on the site for you.
We're looking at getting some swanky photos done, too. Lots of details for us to organize first. All in good time!
Since moving out of the big city, it's been quite the transition...but The Maevens have continued to practice regularly and are getting our chops read for (hopefully) lots of shows!
Winter is in full bloom in the Kawarthas...no snowmen yet, but there will be plenty of time for that! Take care, be warm, be safe and be on the lookout for us.
Winter is here and so are some new songs

December 7, 2007
We've been busy Maevens what with writing, practicing for our upcoming show and generally getting up to no good during the start of winter. So far there have been some blizzards and white outs...Kelly has already found her car in the ditch and is on the hunt for snow tires. Interstingly enough, though, the dull cold of winter hasn't stunted our creativity. As mentioned, we've been working on new songs and will likely continue to do so till the cows come home! They are still nameless...hopefully that will change soon.
Much change is on the way. Lots of plans for the new year. So, be safe. Keep warm. And Happy December!
Rock You Like A Hurricane Prom
-
November 24, 2007
Tonight was the super fun Rock You Like A Hurricane Prom for very good friend, sister-in-law and Maevens Fan Jen. The Maevens put on their 80's rock gear and played a handful of Jen's favourite songs...quite the departure from standard Maevens music, but so much fun. The highlight of our set (aside from kicking 80's rock) was that we blew the circuit breaker three, count 'em, three times. THAT's how much we were rocking. Or maybe, just maybe, when setting up we had a few too many things plugged in one area. Either way, everyone survived and we continuted to play. Right after us was..."Hassle and The Hoffs". Oh my god. Too fun...this was friend John's band he threw together for the event and it was a great time for sure! The guys pulled out another handful of Jen's favourites and although they didn't blow the fuse, they did get everyone up and dancing.
For those of you who were there...that was history in the making for sure! Other notable highlights were Kelly soloing on electric guitar for the first time ever, a lot of very large and product filled hair, lots of great prom dresses and suits, Graydon's exceptional air guitaring skills and Jason's footwear. And lots of friends having a blast with some pretty fun live music as part of the night.
Happy Birthday Jen!!
The Central show
-
November 22, 2007
Tonight we had the great, great pleasure of putting on a show at The Central with Adam Faux and his band. They opened the night for a jam packed house (there was an after-party being held at the venue which made for a very nice sized crowd) and knocked my socks off. I'm sure many other peoples' as well. Definitely a good way to start the evening.
Then it was our turn. The stage at The Central is interesting...there's a nook, almost, where the drummer fits. But it was cool...we weren't in Graydon's way at all and he had lots of room to get up between songs and do a jig if he felt up to it...I'm not sure if he did, though, as I had lots of tuning to do.
Anyhow, it was a really fun night. We got to see a bunch of friends we hadn't seen in a little bit and we got to play. Love to play!
Have a great weekend!
Show updates

November 13, 2007
We're getting very excited for the show at The Central. I was just listening to some of Adam Faux's music on MySpace and got even more excited. It's going to be a good night.
Just wanted to give you a little update on the Trent show...unfortunately the November show has been cancelled but will hopefully be rescheduled for the new year. Keep your fingers crossed and your eyes open.
November!!

November 7, 2007
Good day to all! It's a fun time for The Maevens. We've been working on a few new tunes and I've got to say ~ it's pretty darn exciting. There haven't been any finalized names chosen, but I'm hoping we can do that soon and debut them at our upcoming show at The Central on November 22.
Other news is that we're gearing up to get our three song demo all prettied up and mastered and then look out! As always, we would welcome any suggestions or towns, bars, coffee shops, record stores etc. to play in or bands to look into playing with. Also, we would love any feedback about the site, our music, our hair...anything.
Our dear Graydon is off having a (hopefully) awesome time in the states singing his heart out. We look forward to his coming back in one piece. Possibly in time for the 'possible' Trent University show. I haven't heard any confirmation of a date yet, but will update the site as soon as I do!
Anyhow, there's a little early November ramble for you.
New shows - what fun!

October 16, 2007
We've booked our first show in Toronto since August and I have to say...feels good. Our last Toronto show, aside from the very fun Terry Fox Run show, at The Supermarket was really well received and we had a great time. We are definitely looking forward to the show at The Central on November 22. More details will be available soon, i.e. openers, etc. We promise it'll be very good!
We're also ironing out the details for our first show in Peterborough, at the Trent University bar 'The Ceilie'.
It's a chilly one, so off I go to warm up by the oven.

October 12, 2007
Well...it's now fall. Definitely fall, and lots is happening, including our new site. We hope it will give you everything you need to become aqcuainted with the band and to keep up with all things Maevens.
As always, we'd love to hear from you. Drop us a line at themaevens@themaevens.com and enjoy the site.
In other news, we find ourselves wishing guitar player, Will Zaver, a fond farewell. Will is moving on to pursue other endeavours and we wish him all the best. We'll miss you, man!
Also, we're gearing up to start a mean touring schedule so keep your eyes peeled. Or, bookmark the site and come back often.
